Could A Quiet Place 2 Happen? Heres What The Writers Say
A Quiet Place is finally playing in theaters, and judging from the critical reaction that's trickled in over the last few weeks, it has the potential to become a horror classic. Nowadays, though, it's not uncommon for a sequel to a movie to be discussed shortly after said movie arrives or even before it's released. Such is the case for A Quiet Place, and while it may be a while until we officially learn if the John Krasinski and Emily Blunt-led movie gets a sequel, writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have revealed that they do indeed have an idea on where A Quiet Place 2 could go. When asked if they'd thought about a potential sequel, Beck responded:
Oh yeah. Totally. We even have some of the set pieces already written for it. In a sense, that's what you have to base it around. You have to figure out, what is the worst possible situation to put your characters in and go from there.
While many horror movies are often one-and-done tales, there's certainly no shortage of franchises within the genre, with examples from recent years including Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring and Insidious. Depending on how well A Quiet Place performs at the box office, perhaps it will join this group. The movie certainly wasn't easy to market to the public, but if the reviews and good word-of-mouth result in butts being planted in seats, Paramount may decide to order a sequel to keep the largely-silent thrills going. Scott Beck also told MovieWeb that he thinks there's "multiple universes" that A Quiet Place 2 could be set in, so there's no guarantee it would be a direct follow-up to its predecessor. Of course, once you've seen the movie, it's easy to see one path the sequel could take.

A Quiet Place ended with John Krasinski's character, Lee Abbot, being killed by one of the sound-sensitive creatures that are running rampant on Earth in the new future. Fortunately, his wife, Emily Blunt's Evelyn Abbot, and the two children, Regan and Marcus, played by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, respectively, were able to escape with the family's newborn son. Even better, Regan discovered that the cochlear implant that her father fixed for her can emit a high frequency sound, which, when placed on a microphone, is capable of weakening these creatures. So if A Quiet Place 2 gets the green light, there's a good chance it could follow Regan or the entire Abbot family traveling around to kill the horrific creatures one by one, but for now, nothing is official.
