Lindsay Lohan Really Wants Mean Girls 2 To Happen

While the celebrity would rather some events of her past not follow her, when it comes to her 2004 hit Mean Girls, she's all in to go down that road again and sign on for a sequel. Here's what she told Variety:
If anyone has asked for this more than I have, please tell me. I've said it so many times, and so many people have asked me, and I think we'd have so much fun doing it. Tina [Fey] and Lorne [Michaels] are so amazing, and to bring everyone back together would be great. Last time I was in New York, I went up to Lorne, and I was like, 'Please!' It's in their hands.
The idea of a Mean Girls sequel (and yes, we're ignoring the 2011 TV follow up) sounds fetch, and Lindsay Lohan really wants to make it happen this time.
The actress understands that the success of Mean Girls wouldn't have been the same without Tina Fey as screenwriter and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, who served as producer. Over the years, Lindsay Lohan has been vocal about her interest in reprising her role as Cady Heron, and she's sending another signal out to the comedy icons.
For the sequel to work, Lindsay Lohan thinks everyone from the original film would need to come back, "unless someone is killed off" but also maintained that type of move just wouldn't be Mean Girls.
The Mean Girls cast includes Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Lacey Chabert, Lizzy Caplan and Amanda Seyfried to name a few, all of which who are no stranger to starring in movies since the the 2004 cult classic. For McAdams and Seyfried, Mean Girls was the movie that launched their careers -- and each had hits in 2018, Game Night and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, respectively.
While Mean Girls was a career high for Lindsay Lohan before controversy started surrounding the actress, all involved are still primarily remembered for their characters in the high-school set comedy. So why not revisit it?
It would be tons of fun to see the cast reunite for a Mean Girls sequel, maybe for a high school reunion. Audiences could catch up with where the characters are in their 30's -- what does Regina George do these days? Did Karen Smith's weather woman career take off? There's so much they could do with it, especially if the Saturday Night Live masterminds and talented cast came back.
Some of the supporting cast of Mean Girls reprised their characters for Ariana Grande's viral music video for "thank u, next" that played tribute to the comedy along with 13 Going on 30, Bring it On and Legally Blonde.
Now it's time to make it happen, now that the film's lead actress is all in. Would you see a sequel to Mean Girls? It would be pretty grool to see everyone back together.
"It was not a cosmetic release…the movie opened more than a month ago and is still playing. That is rare for a foreign film. I think that is very unfair to say that," he said. "Why don't you take the list of foreign films this year and compare the theatrical release to those things and for how long they've been playing.
