Deadpool Roasts Wolverine With Brutal Ten Year Challenge Post
The latest social media meme going around has seen people comparing the way they looked 10 years ago with the way they look today by viewing side-by-side profile pictures. While it's been a fun way for many people to see how they've aged or otherwise changed, it's also the perfect opportunity for Deadpool to continue to make fun of Wolverine, as the last 10 years have been especially hard on the popular mutant, as the official Deadpool Twitter account recently pointed out.
The version of the 10-year challenge here shows Wolverine in 2009's X-Men: Origins - Wolverine, looking young and powerful with a helicopter exploding behind him, and the 2019 version of the character, which is still dead, after having perished in 2017's Logan.
It's pretty much what we've come to expect from anything associated with the Deadpool movies. The two films spend as much time making Hugh Jackman jokes as literally anything else, and just because there's no movie in theaters doesn't mean we should expect that's going to stop.
Most of those jokes have revolved around X-Men: Origins - Wolverine, the film in which Ryan Reynolds first played the part of Wade Wilson, to famously disastrous results. The fact that we've reached the 10-year anniversary of the film could mean we're about to be in for an entire year of celebration from the marketing platforms for the Deadpool movie.
For the record, Hugh Jackman has yet to respond to the Twitter shot. Based on his own Twitter profile, Jackman is in Japan, so he's probably been busy with other things.
Still, there's a good chance we'll get a response of some kind. Jackman has been a good sport regarding the constant teasing from Ryan Reynolds and the Deadpool films, so Jackman might just be waiting to put together the perfect response.
At some point, the X-Men will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and since Hugh Jackman has already decided to leave the claws behind, somebody else will be taking them up. Assuming that Deadpool movies continue into the Disney era, I'd fully expect Jackman will still be the brunt of the jokes. For so many Jackman will always be Wolverine. He'll never be able to shed the role completely. Though it will be interesting to see how the next 10 years of Wolverine look, they'll likely be very different.
Of course, if we're going to nitpick, the fact is that X-Men: Origins is a prequel and Logan takes place in the future so we're actually covering a lot more 10 years of Wolverine's life here, but for the most part since Wolverine was just short of immortal, a ten year gap isn't going to show much change worth celebrating.
